With world leader and international icon Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday just around the corner a massive concert was held in Hyde park London yesterday to celebrate the life of this great man, as well as to raise awareness for his charity 46664. One would think that with a life of political activity, 27 years in jail and a South African presidency behind him, and with achievements as great as bringing an end to apartheid under his belt, Mr. Mandela would finally give himself a break and start winding down in his old age. But seeing this man's passion and commitment to tackling other African injustices - from the AIDS epidemic to poverty to speaking out against neighbouring "president" Mugabe - just gives the rest of us even less excuse to sit on our backsides doing nothing about the inequalities and injustice we see around us. Whilst I don't think we need to go as far as some by giving Madiba godlike status, we can definitely learn a thing or two from his life and priorities. Respect.
